Experimental Investigation into Closed-Loop Control for HTPB-Based Hybrid Rocket Motors

Space exploration greatly facilitates the development of advanced propulsion systems. Extensive research has shown that hybrid rocket motors have bright prospects for use in variable-thrust However, precision control a motor with high-mass fraction aluminum not been adequately explored. In this paper, we propose closed-loop system high-performance laboratory-scale motor, and verify its performance through tests on containing 98% hydrogen peroxide hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene 58% an additive. The results show that, first, average value thrust stable sections three stages were 400.7 N, 599.1 400.1 N when target values 400 600 respectively. Second, was stable, error better than 0.5%. Third, real-time controlled to within ± 20 steady-state smaller 5%. These indicate proposed strategy can maintain constant smooth transitions case variable thrust.
